I have had the possibility to test side-by-side all the three reflex: the result is a test where you can see the actual image quality of these cameras! The RAW files have been converted with identical settings, without noise reduction.

Why do all the 5Dmk3 shadows look like they have been pushed? The ISO performance of my 5Dmk3 appears better than these samples.

These are on par with what I have seen in every test so far. d800 has an amazing sensor, period. 5DIII made the slightest of improvements over the mkII, despite having years to sort something out Canon decided to to spend all their development budget on crack and alcohol. I will buy me a used 1DIV, I refuse to pay 3k plus for a 5D model that has IQ on par with the last one.

I have used neutral settings (low contrast, no noise reduction) so you see a truly "raw" file. With a little of post processing of course you can get much better results.

The 5D3 shadows looks brighter than the D800. If the D800 has better low ISO dynamic range then the it should be the D800 shadows brighter (more detail)...

No doubt D800 has amazing low ISO quality. By ISO 800 the dynamic range is more or less on a par and the 5D3 has slightly better ISO performance all the way up from there in better tests (but who cares, 5D3 owners dont care how a D800 performs and visa versa). To be quite frank, the the D800's IQ is not enough to offset the 5D3's overall slight superiority. If you think the 5D3 IQ isn't good enough you should probably take up hair dressing :-P ;-)
