Pros: Amazing goal! Perhaps the best value for money performance on the market.

Cons: Poor resistance to flare, needs an excellent lens hood.

Opinion: Dr. Jekill and Mr. Hyde, a truly incredible two-sided goal. A TA is soft but is so pictorial that it feels like using a brush, with a structured but at the same time sweet blur that is something unique. From f2.8 onwards it plays as sharpness with the best modern lenses, but this one is almost 60 years old and I don't think there are any moderns with this character. I love vintage lenses, especially the ones full of character, I have and have had several, but if I have to choose one I would say that this Minolta is my favorite. The beauty is that you can buy it for a few tens of euros and surprisingly it also holds up well to the 42 mpx of the A7RIII. I'm not saying that it doesn't have defects, in fact the sun suffers a lot if it enters the frame, and obviously it's only manual and without EXIF. But with a few targeted attentions, the results it gives are magnificent. Vote 10.

Pros: Construction, opening, bokeh, focus ring, yield

Cons: Anti-glare dotting, risk of fungi on the used (age of the lens), coma at 1.4 and at the edges up to f 2.8, front light resistance

Opinion: I rewrite my review after a few weeks of use: I bought 2 specimens, the first arrived with mushrooms (not visible from the photos put by the seller, incorrect), then the second in good condition (it belonged to a collector); the lens is all metal with a generous and very precise focus ring, fire management also helped by the very detailed optical yield already at 1.4 with a coma that is evident especially in the out of focus; the optical scheme looks a bit like the biotar zeiss (I read on the net more similar to a leica) in any case it is from a vintage lens with a very pronounced progression in the blurred that means that the detachment is never exaggerated, however with a bokeh in the out of focus very pleasant and at close distances to 1.4 a hint of swirly effect that is immediately run to f2 where immediately you pass from circular shapes hexagonal shapes on the light points in the blurred; the color rendering also depends on the state of the MC treatment but probably primitive that is affected above all by strong front lights and an increase in coma if the leci are located in the frame especially on the edges where the effect is already accentuated of its own, but in principle in normal conditions the yield is very neutral with faithful colors that in one of the 2 copies tends to yellow only at 1.4, decidedly low contrast as the micro contrast which, however, immediately highlights from f2 a simply extraordinary detail; I acqiustato this optics to use it its a7s and behaves perfectly, I do not know with more mpx but in general I find it very beautiful in photos and portraits, exceptional (with attention to the lights) in the video where the dynamic range is abundantly helped by the contrast definitely not exaggerated; I would therefore say that those who in the past have been lucky enough to find it on € 50 if they kept it tight, optics very different from many others, even of my old 50 1.4D, today it is between € 80-100 and the main problem is the state of conservation, in any case regarding the dotting on the anti-reflection placed on one of the internal lenses improves if the lens is kept a little in the sun.

Pros: price, construction, maximum aperture, bokeh, vintage feeling

Cons: soft wide open, just engraved on APS-C, little resistance to flare (coma obvious) rn

Opinion: Taken together with a much Fujifilm X-T1, is soft at full aperture with an effect "glow" that disappears at f / 2.8; photos have a low microcontrast and then the image is not very engraved on APS-C (to be expected, it is with a view A resolution from full frame, APS-C fatigue) .rnAlla end, however, it is precisely the 'vintage effect that is a winner, otherwise one takes a Fujifilm 56mm f / 1.4 and peace: D

Pros: Price, 1.4, bokeh, size and construction

Cons: resistance to flare, a bit soft at 1.4

Opinion: I use this lens for a couple of months, bought for 80 euro on the bay, what to say, I really like it, it has a good overall yield, with the 1.4 is a little soft, good to f2 and a razor from 2.8 onwards, I found myself very well by mounting it on the fuji x-e1, recommended to all those who want a good fixed without fainting! the bokeh is soft and pleasant, really good, much better than the minolta 50 1.7 that I own!
