sent on October 19, 2023 Pros: Universal, Sharp, Excellent Construction. Cons: Lens hood that snaps badly Opinion: Bought a couple of years ago used by a user on Juza, too bad it arrived without the original box (I own all the packaging of my equipment) in the end the price was good and I didn't want to stick too much. That said, I would call this lens universal, almost not to take it off the camera. I like this focal length even more than the counterpart 50 of the Art series. The materials, finishes and dimensions are equal to its weight there is practically substance. Once calibrated with the appropriate doc it is perfect, very sharp, distortions practically absent if not negligible. Even at full aperture, it retains a remarkable sharpness even if you happen to be able to barrel the point of focus. I didn't see any noticeable problems in the AF. In backlight it generates a very small flare that is completely negligible. Using it purely in portraiture, I would say excellent for full figures and American cuts, but also in set portraits. The only really negative aspect is its lens hood, which often doesn't hook well when turned around and generates slight vignetting in two opposite and marginal areas in the images. Without wanting to sell the discovery of hot water, let's say that preferring more and more prime lenses at the expense of variable focal length lenses, this 35 is my favorite. |
sent on July 06, 2023 Pros: Sharpness, construction and top-notch materials, accurate AF contrary to other opinions read on Nikon D850 no problem. Excellent value for money. Cons: The hood does not lock firmly on the optics and you risk losing it or falling to the ground ruinously. inexplicable flaw. Difficult to find of competition if not of dubious functionality see the screw one. For the rest everything Ok! Opinion: Disarming sharpness, optics that must not be missing in the kit of an Advanced Amateur Photographer, but also of the Professional. bought used by private initially I was afraid that the' AF drunk as they define it in many could give me problems, contrary I had no problem, love at first sight with my Nikon D850 does not miss a shot. Colors and fabulous blurred. DS used only to update the firmware no adjustment for the Fateful AF that reading other reviews is necessarily calibrated, on my Nikon D850 there was this need, perfect focus at every shot. A really excellent lens allows you to dare for its brightness in critical lighting conditions with excellent results. An optics that allows you to have plenty of room for creativity, despite having the Tamron 24/70 G2 really good lens that now often remains on the bench in the backpack giving space to the 35mm 1.4 holder that hardly for some time I am reluctant to disassemble from the camera body. A lens that cuts like a razor. Very happy to have it in my kit, not only landscapes or street photos but it behaves more than very well on the portrait. Good Light to all! |
sent on May 20, 2023 Pros: Sharpness, F1.4, robustness, elegant design Cons: You want to slam him to the ground for his AF Opinion: When I saw this lens the first time at a friend's house and tried it, I was struck. It was immediate love. Love at first sight. Its sharpness and its colors, its blurred; It is a lens that has character. In short, I wanted it at all costs, but ours was destined to turn into a toxic relationship. When the shot succeeds I must say that its yield is wonderful, it will also be a subjective matter, but I like to go crazy. The point is precisely this (I state that I used it on SLR), a large percentage of shots, more than half, fails. Especially in TA where the pdc is very restricted. I tried them all: dock station, AF fine adjustment... but... The point is that, at least in my case, it was not a simple F/B focus problem that maybe you can correct. No! Simply the AF is drunk! Sometimes he set fire further ahead, sometimes further back, in short, it was hell. Which then becomes frustrating, especially when overall you have caught a good shot but then you realize that it is not usable due to the alcoholism of his AF. However, I must point out that in Live View the problem was much less heavy, so I imagine that on ML there is no such problem and therefore can give great satisfaction. In the end, however, I sold it out of desperation. If I had to switch to mirrorless I'd like to try it again anyway. "Some loves make immense turns and then return" |
sent on February 25, 2023 Pros: Sharpness to f>2.8 Cons: Weight, sharpness up to f2, AUTOFOCUS (disastrous) Opinion: I had this lens for 4 months. Honestly from the first shots it was not love at first sight because as color rendering I preferred the Nikon (among this I used for years the 35 f1.8 dx slightly cropped and I liked a lot) that interpret the light in a more neutral and "creamy" way than this that deviates towards cold colors, which is one more thing to fix in PP if you do not want this type of rendering and in any case even if arranging the BW in PP does not get the same result as the Nikon. The weight is a lot for a lens that is used above all for Street and "stolen" photographs in quotation marks where lightness and manageability count, but if it really gave something more would be partly justified. The sharpness praised by many at f1.4 is unthinkable and you have to go up to f2.8 to have acceptable results (which for portraits would not be bad not to highlight the defects of the skin, for heaven's sake). The sore point is the autofocus, on 4 shots 2 are to be thrown away because it makes mistakes for no apparent reason. You should always shoot from live view to overcome the problem (on mirrorless so it does not occur as a defect), as well as being rather slow. In practice there is I see it well only for studio portraits with live view. Having said that considering these serious shortcomings I decided to replace it with the Nikon 35 f1.8 ED and I would say that it was love again at first sight. |
sent on December 12, 2022 Pros: Sharpness already at TA in the central area, construction, hood included. Cons: If it weren't for some uncertainty of AF in certain situations it would be perfect. Opinion: As a former owner of the Canon EF 35mm f2.0 IS USM, very sharp optics but whose colors did not make me fall in love, I can assert that the optical quality of this ART that I delayed to buy is at the highest levels, unfortunately it is not a matter of adjustments in the room or with the dock, of which I am the owner, but rather than (in my opinion) deliberate incompatibility by Canon that otherwise could see its L optics snubbed in favor of its Sigma counterparts with a considerable saving for the user. Apart from a few cannato shots for no apparent reason, for the rest the optics are exceptional for colors (a little cold as the latest trend imposes), sharpness and realization. I recommend buying it as long as you already know that sometimes it can be inexplicably wrong. Otherwise if you look for the sniper it is advisable to look for Canon or the L series or the 35 f2.0 IS USM (now out of production), even if personally it did not excite me. I forgot, with 5D Mark IV in LV never misses a beat, perhaps thanks to the Dual Pixel AF. Update July 2023, with my second body 5d Mark III the AF is always a sniper both in sight and LV. |
sent on August 05, 2022 Pros: It's a Sigma ART Cons: Nothing Opinion: With this perspective I completed my triad 35-50-85 Sigma ART f/1.4 and with this I think I have already said it all. The files it churns out are gorgeous, embarrassing sharpness already at TA like the 50 and 85 on the other hand. Accustomed to often mounting the beast of '85 (which weighs 1.2 kg) this lens does not weigh me at all. I'm not a lover of the 35mm focal length for portraits but this lens made me change my mind a bit. |
sent on June 12, 2022 Pros: Colors, resolution and AF Cons: Weight and bulk Opinion: I was looking for a quality 35mm to accompany my EOS R, I was undecided between this Sigma Art and the 35 1.4L (first version) of Canon. I opted for the sigma to save some money, it is used between 400 and 500 euros against about 700 of the L series. Let's start with the negative sides: it is a heavy and cumbersome optics. Of course, compared to sigma's other Art series lenses, the 35mm is the "more compact" version, but let's not kid ourselves: on the R it looks like a cannon, and the weight does not help; if we add to this a frankly somewhat plastic construction, we can safely say that we expect more from a lens that is sold as "professional". The point, however, is that it is an extraordinary lens, and at the exact moment in which you download the files to the computer to give us an eye and make the usual changes, you are amazed. At full aperture it is a blade in the center, the sides suffer from a minimum of vignetting that I must say but gives a "dreamy" effect to the photo. It has a soul all its own: the colors are cold, tending to blue, with a style very similar to ZEISS lenses. The autofocus is a splinter, with the AF system of the R it becomes really difficult to find yourself with a shot that is not perfectly in focus, even at full aperture. Then in short, a 1.4 lens allows night use, with really interesting results. To get the most definition just close to F2.8. Last thing: since I mounted the 35 Art I left in the drawer all the other optics I had; it will be the focal length, it will be the ability to churn out impressive colors, it will be personal taste ... but this lens is really a lot of stuff. In short, considering the quality / price ratio I think it is one of those lenses that can not be missing in the kit of any amateur photographer. |
sent on March 31, 2022 Pros: Excellent quality, sharpness, three-dimensionality Cons: the weight and bulk but similar to others, sometimes the autofocus Opinion: I have owned this lens for a few months now and it is widely tested in numerous fashion, commercial, portraiture, wedding photo shoots, in any situation it has a crazy sharpness on the whole frame and a cleanliness in the shot, with little vignetting and chromatic aberrations that has nothing to do with other lenses. I use it on the D750 and for a few months on the Z6 where it has regained speed and accuracy of autofocus. The only disadvantage if you can say so is bulk and weight, in the sense that in certain situations I understand a more compact and discreet lens can be more comfortable, for 90% of the work on official services this gives you an extra gear and it is also the lens that allows you to do a little 'everything with a fixed. sent on January 03, 2022 Pros: Pretty much everything. Sharpness, colors, blurred, transition areas of fire and out of focus always very pleasant ..... Cons: Weight? Yes, but also no: in short: it is heavy but we remain within the limits of "normal transportability". The AF that is not a splinter and, we know, sometimes needs calibration. Opinion: I confirm all the "positive notes" that I have read in the reviews below. I always say this: the paradox is that the relatively low price rows a bit "against" ..... because for some amateur photographers it is necessary that above the optics there is written "Zeiss" or "Leica" and pay it 2,3,4000 euros because that is really an excellent "glass".... and those that would be defects for any other objective for the latter (itinerant mortgages) become "character" , which only a true lover of true photography and a philosopher of the image knows how to appreciate and understand ..... The truth is that with 400 euros used you take home a 35mm that "winters" all around! At f1.4 it's sharp, contrasted, saturated and crystal clear to scare! ..... and sorry if it's little! Maybe, "in return", he could have a nervous and unpleasant bokeh.... but no: beautiful even that, in some ways "comparable" to what can be obtained with real portrait optics (which, of course, are more "specialized" in this sense). Leave miserably "to the pole" any bright zoom.... proven this the comparison will come spontaneously, and will be ruthless! The photos below, from the gallery, I think speak for themselves. UPDATE August 2022: having used it often, and willingly, "in the field" I confirm the excellent opinions having to add, however, that the optics has as a "feature - defect" that of closing the shadows a lot ... You have to take this into account and know how to regulate. In the set portrait, for example, this factor tends to play against it. |
sent on January 03, 2022 Pros: Color rendering, color, unbeatable sharpness, Cons: Affuoco mass not always very fast, Front/Back focus problems Opinion: Those who buy this lens must be aware that it is necessary to do the fine af calibration, even if you do not notice problems, because the art are slow that require it in a way we say "mandatory". I use this lens on D750 and D780, it had also happened on D500. Optics really very sharp and the progenitor of the line art. The thing that I find really interesting about this lens is the ability to return a three-dimensionality and really amazing colors, even in bad light conditions. The affuoco mass sometimes in more difficult conditions is difficult and as I told you the back focus problems are almost always present, I solved with the fine af adjustment on the machine, I assure you that it took 5 months. The art is warmer and more dramatic and the Nikon more neutral, just look at the gallery below and compare it with those of the fixed Nikkor to understand the considerable difference. I had the impression that the Sigma Art is much sharper than the Nikon 35 or comparable. The particular color rendering typical of the art and the high microcontrast, the transition zones out of focus are free from aberrations. Excellent lens also for weddings!! |
sent on November 11, 2021 Pros: Practically everything, color rendering in the first place Cons: MAF ring hard to rotate (as well as other art I tried) Opinion: I use it on D750. Optics destined to have a prominent place in history both for performance and for having been the progenitor of the ART line. There is a lot of talk about sharpness, certainly exceptional, but the thing that is truly extraordinary about this lens is the ability to return balanced and vivid colors even in flat or strongly dirty light conditions, where my other optics (including 85mm 1.4G, 50mm 1.8G and 24-120 F4) give up completely. I also owned the 30mm version for dx and they share the same beautiful character, with the 35 just a bit higher in performance. The colors are neutral and very contrasted, I personally love them. I do not know if it is the exact term but I know that very difficult to get those yellowish faces that are difficult to remove even in post. Compared to nikon I would say that they simply have different characters that express different emotions, with art devoted to drama and nikon to relaxation. Just look at the gallery below and compare it with those of the fixed Nikkor to understand the considerable difference. Contrasted even in full aperture backlight, in my case the AF worked well with only fine calibration in the car and the impression is that the accuracy is comparable or better than my other Nikkor lenses. Calibration by doc is still recommended because a lens of this caliber must be used to its full potential. The decidedly valid blur, the particular color rendering typical of the art, the high microcontrast and the fire-out of focus transition zone free from chromatic aberrations even at full aperture give images of great three-dimensionality. About 400 € in the used is a nonsense for the lens that will be a reference point for all your kit. |
sent on November 05, 2021 Pros: sharpness at full aperture, price used, solidity Cons: focus Opinion: I have owned this lens for about a year and I must say that in terms of quality for the price it has it is something phenomenal. After calibrating I used it to make portraits and I must say that such a sharpness at f1.4 is a scary thing. The lens weighs but balances with important machines so I do not see a negative side, the construction is done well, in metal that returns the idea of something done in the old USSR. The only sore point is the autofocus system, it is slow and in extreme situations with many objects on different focal planes it is difficult at full aperture, if you are photographing with a smoke bomb for example it will be difficult for you to guess the fire in all the photos. |
sent on October 13, 2021 Pros: Sharpness at 1.4, construction. Cons: perhaps weight and bulk Opinion: The number of reviews of this lens on juza speaks for itself. There is little to say, it is the best lens I have had as a yield, sometimes I have the impression of seeing a photo almost in 3D. Many complain about these Sigma models back and front focus problems, I have never had them but maybe it will have been luck. Honestly I can't think of any cons, I only had satisfaction using it. If I really have to find one I would say weight and bulk, but it is relative. The price of the new is worth them all, of course I recommend always looking on the used, maybe on RCE which is guaranteed. EXTRA-NOT-WON |
sent on September 14, 2021 Pros: Sharpness, image quality, TA sharpness Cons: Not tropicalized, suffers from F/B, bulky, heavy Opinion: I have had this lens for about 3 years now and it is the main lens, the one I use for most of my photographs. After intense sacrifices I bought it knowing well what I was buying and its cons. My model suffered from B/ F focus and I was able to fix it with the dock (available separately). Since then, I haven't had the same problem again even years later. It is a solid, large and heavy lens. I'm sorry it's not tropicalized. If I went back would I buy it again? I think so since at the time there were no optics of the same sharpness at TA with the same price. Maybe I would have tried to save some money for a few months and I would have fallen back on something else, but all in all, I'm not sorry |
sent on April 22, 2021 Pros: Sharpness, blurry, construction and image quality (when AF works) Cons: Unconstant AF, F/B focus issues, color gamut Opinion: Reluctantly I had to give up sigma 35 art after 5 months of use. Reluctantly because when the shot is right it is really magical. Assuming that the purchase of an f 1.4 lens is motivated by the use of large openings (for a 35 species for the set portrait) the strengths of this lens are the sharpness already at TA and its magical blurry, especially the ability to "detach" the subject from the background. The problem of this lens is known, especially on CANON (as far as I am concerned): 1) calibration because of the F/B focus that I had solved anyway with Dock station 2) inconstancy of the AF, out of 10 photos 4 were to be thrown away and when you make street or simply photos that are not portrayed posing it is frustrating to open the raw and see that out of 10 shots it gets about half of it. And it is not a problem of F/B focus because once properly calibrated this is solved. Another flaw, this cmq easily remediated in post and that did not affect my yield, is the strong chromatic abbreviation to large openings, especially on contrasted backgrounds (but also not too much). In conclusion, I reluctantly had to give up in favor of the much more expensive Canon 35 mm F.1.4 L USM II, taken used with sigma trade-in and related economic sacrifice. From the first tests the Canon doesn't miss a beat but I reserve a review later. As for Sigma Art, the quality of the lens is very high, perhaps it did not go well with my 6D II or more simply my specimen was not lucky. I don't feel like making bad judgments because the quality is there and you see it, but the reliability is really minimal and this has been frustrating for me. |
sent on April 07, 2021 Pros: Ta sharpness, construction, yield and colors Cons: Weight but you know it at the time of purchase. Opinion: I've been chasing this lens for many years, its myth is now on everyone's mouth, and I decided to buy it when I switched to FF to complete with the kit I have. Immediately you can feel the weight, the footprint and the solid construction all in metal and after a few shots a sublime empathy really arises. This is a focal point that must please especially on FF, because for many it is a middle ground, but personally I prefer it to 50mm. After taking it as a prescient, I dabbled with a few test shots here and there, but after a shoot with a future mom I appreciated the optical qualities and the stories that are heard around, I can say that at f/1.4 the focus part is already of an absurd sharpness, closing even more is top really, Personally I snapped at f/8 and the model's skin was all too sharp, so I really recommend not going beyond f/5.6 also to give a naturalness and not having to work too much in post production. Moreover, it has natural colors, creamy and uniform blurry and does not suffer from chromatic aberrations, the focus is quite rapid, at least on my EOS R, where precisely you do not need the dock, which I recommend instead for the DSRL system. For me I vote 9.5. |
sent on February 26, 2021 Pros: Nobody Cons: Vignetting watering and focus calibration that seems random Opinion: Bad lens, it costs a lot and has been calibrated at random, putting it in place is a feat with the dock. Buy a Nikon or Canon and have fun. Bad even in the nuances it captures doesn't actually capture them at all. Monochrome, heavy. I'm going to add random words to get to the 350 minimum juza because I don't know what to say anymore that the lens is obscene and it's absolutely not even worth half the necessary words that juza instead considers minimal |
sent on February 01, 2021 Pros: it's definitely better than the Canon 35 1.4 L first series. This ART is all metal and optical glass made in Japan Cons: autofocus continues a little noisy maybe doing a !!!! Opinion: I took some shots and it has no focus problems on canon 5D ii and 5D iii beautiful blurred colors like Canon to have better than a 50mm 1.4 which is a bit too long to do everything with the 35mm I do landscapes and half bust etc and then being bright shots whenever you want. Then I remind everyone that it was born for digital sensors and not for film so optimized |
sent on February 01, 2021 Pros: clarity already from TA, uniformity of yield Cons: Weight Opinion: I start that I am not a lover of art (fond of different and less modern yields) but I must admit that this 35 1.4 art is really great in many respects, at 1.4 excellent center and not only, from 1.6-2 has a sharpness that goes from the center up to 2/3 of the very uniform frame, from f2 even already to the corners, in short an impeccable yield, natural colors and creamy and uniform blurry. As already seen with the 17-70 C years ago the MAF's ring rubber gets dirty easily and the lampsho is a bit uncomfortable to release and re-angle, otherwise apart from the weight and size (but it is a 1.4 also) there is not much to say. |
sent on October 19, 2020 Pros: Quality of lenses and final image Cons: a little bit the weight but it's normal given the build quality Opinion: After purchasing it you immediately notice its robustness and superior quality. It was not very easy to calibrate it but just because it never did I had to take some time to understand the best solution and method but once I had some experience I managed to calibrate it and I have to say that now it is perfect, on nikon D810 body machine with sigma docking. |
sent on August 27, 2020 Pros: Sharpness, contrast, f1.4 opening, flare resistance, colors, bokeh. Cons: Unreliability of focus Opinion: It's one of my favorite goals. The 35mm are very versatile, allowing various types of photographs, from street photography, to the portrait set, to the portrait in the foreground. The sharpness of this lens is unreachable, even at maximum openness. Closing a stop and, therefore, at F2 achieves an exceptional sharpness, maintaining a pleasant blur. The blurred is beautiful, but "nervous": this creates problems when in the background there is the sky and a figure, polygonal because of the strong contrast that determines an artificial effect (type "cartonate"). He does not suffer from chromatic aberrations. Focus is a disaster. I spent hours with the dock station (fundamental) and after two calibrations it improved a lot. However, at maximum opening, it often errs on the focus (by taking three photos in identical sequence, you will find three different focus points). With a lack of light, the focus becomes virtually impossible. These are important problems, but the quality of the photographs it produces largely justify the purchase. Recommended. |
sent on August 24, 2020 Pros: Sharpness and overall quality, construction, bokeh Cons: Weight, size, autofocus sometimes inaccurate Opinion: Sony E version. Lens with really good quality and for the price for which it is sold. The construction is impeccable but the size is important, both weight and length, synches if still acceptable on a sony alpha. The autofocus is good but not lightning, especially when compared to native sony lenses, even the cheapest ones. Recommended for portraits set, street and night photography, sometimes I even use it for landscape. For photojournalism, however, I had to accompany him a Sony 28 f2, as there is no comparison. |
sent on February 22, 2020 Pros: Definition, contrast, blurry colors Cons: Nothing Opinion: Taken by Eglobal for my Nikon D750, I was a bit afraid of reviews that talk about F/B focus issues. mine is perfect at 1.4 is a blade, fantastic I do everything from street to portraits, the weight is justified by the materials and quality of the lens, excellently balanced on the D750, lens to have absolutely :-) |
sent on December 22, 2019 Pros: Incredible sharpness, very nice blurry, very eye-catching price when obviously compared to its fellow Nikon or Canon house Cons: Important weight, focus doesn't always hit the target, decidedly cold colors Opinion: Purchased after carefully evaluating many reviews and compared many photos seen directly here on the Juza forum. Mainly, for budget issues, I wanted to take either this Sigma 35 mm f 1.4 or the Nikon 35 mm f 1.8. I decided and I took the Sigma: purchased on Amazon for about 700 euros (I did not look at other sites as the guarantee and processing of the returned on Amazon is unparalleled, if you needed to replace the product at record time without asking too many questions) I immediately connected it to my Nikon D500. As I expected, after some test shots on graph paper, I found a front focus problem. Not bad, even without having purchased the dock station, I calibrated the focus manually as setting on the camera by moving the step 4 points back solving the problem. Of course, if you have a camera that does not allow this setting I would say mandatory the purchase of the dock. But let's come to the real use: it is a real pleasure as well as exciting to shoot at f 1.4: you manage to create photos that highlight small details chosen by the photographer: by shooting the face of a person you can focus your eyes by creating the gradient already at the level of the cheeks. It's amazing. Of course, the focus crosshairs goes, in my opinion, managed manually otherwise it is really difficult to hope that the machine understands what the desired point of focus is, especially since already away an inch from the point you create the blurring. Really excellent sharpness, which I would say reaches its apex at f 2.0. Particularly surprising when taking dimly lit scenes, this lens gives beautiful photos without having to raise the ISOs in the car. The problem of focus, as by many, is in fact present: sometimes you take dozens of photos with sharp focus like a razor on the set point, other times come two or three consecutive where the focus is too far ahead or too far back making the shot unusable. Even the speed sometimes disappoints: you take dozens of photos where the focus moped works well and quickly, then come two or three shots where the focus goes all back, all ahead and stops giving the error message. The weight of the lens is important and you have to be prepared for it. The color yield often turns out to be very cold and needs a bit of post-production. In conclusion I remain enthusiastic about this lens, the price with which it is sold allowed me to try to work with a product that usually remains for the exclusive use of professionals. I repeat, POTER TRY, because if you really want to work or if you earn it with the photos, it is better to aim for economic sacrifice and take a Nikon/Canon. Probably some unrepeatable moments that you would like to immortalize with this Sigma you risk being lost forever |
sent on December 18, 2019 Pros: Quality Cons: weight, size, tropicalization Opinion: The optics are really fantastic, traveling I do 70% of the shots with this mounted lens, the price is in my opinion right, too bad that to be a 35mm is big, heavy and not tropicalized, it could be a 10 and instead the whole thing lowers the rating a bit. More than a few models also have the feint of the FB focus. |
sent on May 12, 2019 Pros: Sharpness, construction, brightness, value for money, MF mechanical ring Cons: Generous dimensions that do not go unnoticed Opinion: Purchased as the first and only lens to be joined to Sony A7III for general use, from landscape to portrait to reportage where is a focal length among the most used. In recent months I have appreciated the solid construction that has resisted well in situations quite adverse despite not being tropicalized; Neck flow all day did not bother me particularly, though, being a very focal length used in reportage and street photography, it is certainly not discreet because of its size. Fortunately on mirrorless does not suffer from front back focus problems and is able to return files of an exceptional sharpness already at Open diaphragms, especially with subjects not too far away. To appreciate the mechanical ring with the end stroke for manual focus. Excellent value for money, I would repeat the purchase as a main lens to use. |
sent on March 14, 2019 Pros: Optical quality, construction Cons: Uncertainty in focus, Lens hood Opinion: It is a vision that undoubtedly either you love or you hate... The copy that was in my possession did not suffer from F/b focus and no calibration was necessary. The nititidity, even at full aperture, was exceptional, a little less the unmistakable chromatic rendition, but it is a peculiarity of the lens. was attached to the D750 almost always, until I realized that I lost a lot of shots due to the variability of the focus, very often the fire changed suddenly failing to refocus on the point due and hanging for a while Before you find yourself.. If found in order gives great satisfaction! |
sent on March 14, 2019 Pros: Sharpness, building materials, Bocken. Cons: Fb Focus,, weight Opinion: After praising this lens and calibrated with sweetness for 4 times, I sell it because it is not reliable in the various focusing. It's really a lottery. Yet I also have 3 other optical Art but I have not had the problems of 35. I'm tired of this aspect of non-optimal focusing. I take a nice Nikon 1.8 and I pass it all. I know maybe wrong but I really tired of making a mistake focusing on unique photos and moments unrepeatable. Under this aspect he demoted it with a 6. Sorry about the rash. Good light at all. |
sent on February 07, 2019 Pros: Durable, color, 1.4 sharp Cons: Probable FB focus to be adjusted on some models of reflex Opinion: It is the optics that I prefer, because the 35 is the one that most resembles the human eye, it does not distort how the wide angles detach too much like the zooms. The diaphragm 1.4 is known to use, if you are close to the subject the field of MAF is minimized and you risk to have (always if the thing is not desired) in focus only a small portion of the subject. If instead you are going to 1.4 with distant subjects the thing of note less obviously. The colors are superb and ad 1.4 is really really incisive, the only flaw is to hope that the shot focuses exactly on the subject (sometimes the MAF on the eye can for the most disparate reasons, end up nose or cheek) is an optics that should have all , I adore the fixed and I have done whole matrimonial services (both photos and videos) without ever replacing it, moving me back and forth to the subjects. |
user115595 | sent on January 17, 2019 Pros: Sharpness to TA, flare resistance, Bokeh Cons: Colours, non-tropicalized, construction, focusing Opinion: Now after a year of intensive use, having only this as the main optics, I am ready to make a review of this fabulous optics. Everyone knows that the sharpness of the House Art series Sigma is also undisputed TA and that closing the diaphragm up to F11, gives a really exaggerated satisfactions. I did not want to write yet another problem of front/back focus as it is for years that we know of this problem, and it is needless to say how to solve it. I would like to clarify one thing, I am an amateur photographer and spend even 2 hours to calibrate the optics (for way of saying) I do not create any kind of problem, indeed.. I like to take care of my things and I like to have a precise optics as I want. Unfortunately, being a wide angle lens I would have preferred it to be weather sealed, but apparently very few Sigma Art lenses are. It is a pity, because there are certain places of the sea, or citizens with so much moisture and the optics sometimes suffers a lot, and since the optics is not small and lightness... well... that cost him? Of course Sigma lenses do not give them to users. The construction unfortunately, after a year of use I did not like that much. I noticed that some writing has faded, but what is really sad is that the focus ring, we form a white patina due to the gum I presume, as if he had made the war and it is also very difficult to clean. For the cost that has this perspective and for how I treat my possessions in a manic way, I get a lot of impact. The cool colors are easily solvable, but it is clear that when you have hundreds of photographs to fix it is quite stressful, even with the use of a preset. The focus instead I can never understand how it works. Sometimes it is a lightning splinter, sometimes it is slow to die and sometimes instead, it does not focus even under torture. Would recommend? I would buy it again because it gave me and continues to give me beautiful shots. For a professional who needs reliable optics I would tell him to look elsewhere, reluctantly. |
sent on October 31, 2018 Pros: Sharpness to TA, solidity, design, resistance to making, file cleaning, contrast. Cons: Slow focus and hard to handle, colors. Opinion: I can only say either you love it or you hate it, I loved it but for job needs I had to abandon it. Anyone who buys a fixed lens like this knows what to do to us and if he complains he doesn't know why he bought it. The 35mm is the ideal size to my photo canon, maybe a little cramped still. Speaking of the merits, what about. Construction in my opinion spectacular, solid as few, design kept that only sigma in my opinion can confer to his lenses ART, sharpness scary if well managed. I say well managed because it changes depending on the focus distance of the subject. The more the subject is far away (it takes even 1m more) and the detail will fail. The focus is, alas one of the disfavor points of this lens. Sometimes it's a rocket sometimes makes you regret having bought it, sometimes without live-view it is impossible to focus. Compared to the Canon L series known colors more tending to magenta, colder and more difficult for my style to work. Would recommend? I would definitely say yes as long as you have immense patience. |
sent on October 06, 2018 Pros: Sharp and competitive price Cons: Not really pro construction Opinion: It really has nothing to envy to lenses from double or triple Cost. Light lens, Sharp to TA, precise focus when used with knowledge of the Case. The ART series is a guarantee in terms of yield and quality, once fitted it will be difficult to detach it from the machine body. Used mainly for portraiture is very useful in conditions of confined spaces. Bokeh agreeable Always. A lens to buy and hold Tight. |
sent on October 01, 2018 Pros: Sharpness and bokeh from before class Cons: Awkward construction and obvious lack of character due to the optical "perfection" Opinion: Now when you see comparisons of lenses, it is almost obvious that on the podium there is a sigma art, of any focal. I find really futile reviews focused on front back focus, problem that you are aware of and easily solvable (but that still becomes annoying in the long run). The problem is another, that is the construction does not live up to an optics with this image quality. Just use any of the Sigma art for a couple of months, and you'll already notice the fading of the lettering, the tires full of white powder (it seems to be Scrostino), and a general aspect of the optics really bad more than lived. Note also the great fragility of the diaphragm department. I personally saw a sigma art 35mm intoned with a blown reed, with the owner complaining about how it was possible to still photograph us, but of course with a big handicap. Let's also put the habit of people to buy them Asian import, and good luck in repairing. Regarding optical quality it is impossible to get better on a 35mm (always referring to sharpness and bokeh). In the center is super sharp, and at the edges even to F 1.4 is not bad. Closing at F4 already becomes uniform to be able to take landscapes, up to F8. From F11 the sharpness starts to decrease due to diffraction. The bokeh at f 1.4 is super creamy, and anyway as a whole also closing the diaphragms, or using it at night to TA with light points, the yield is always beautiful. Too bad for the construction I thought was valuable, until I had some specimen in my hands. Therefore, I recommend the purchase for a studio use, or in any case in an established and controlled environment. I doubt it may have the same duration as a Canon 35 L II If used for example during a wedding, between strusciate and various Bottarelle. |
sent on September 30, 2018 Pros: Frightening sharpness even at full aperture, three-dimensionality, bokeh. Cons: Slight vignetting. Opinion: Considering that my specimen with the Pentax K-1 does not suffer from back/front focus I am very satisfied. The slight vignetting I like species in certain situations. What about it? One of the best lenses I've ever had. I also have the Samyang which is very valid, this has something more. I also did some tests, the Sigma manages to pull out film atmospheres that now are made with plugins while here are an integral part of the lenses. I love it already and I only have it for a week. |
sent on September 09, 2018 Pros: When he catches the fire, the sharpness in the center is stellar, already open. Excellent manufacturing. Engine of the silent MAF. Relatively small and light for an F/1.4 lens Cons: The focus is a Russian roulette, are more times that it is wrong that those that it does not. The corners are soft even at "important" diaphragms (f/8.0). The yield varies by varying the distance of the subject. If we put everything on the scale, I find that the price is too expensive for a lens that is not sharp at closed aperture angles and that it is unpredictable at open aperlets. Opinion: I state that I bought this lens used and I do not know if it is a successful specimen or if it has suffered abuse, so my review deserves the benefit of the doubt. I use this lens mainly on D800. Or at least that was the intention. In fact it is an expensive paperweight, although of good workmanship and bellino to behold. The main problems of this lens, for my liking, are two: 1) the focus is unpredictable. The correction of the MAF on the camera body can not tame it, simply there are times that the fire and other times that it lacks coarsely. Which, when using the most open aperture, makes the lens virtually unusable (and I refuse to use a f/1.4 lens at f/2.0, at which point I was buying a Nikon AF-D). 2) Even when the fire is if the subject is medium distance (say between 2 and 5 meters), the yield of the lens is very soft (too soft) unless you close it a couple of stops, while at close range or on infinity The yield is perfect (assuming that You have guessed the fire, see step 1. It may be that using the USB dock the best situation, but I refuse to spend money to make the lens do something it should do with its own. I think the precision of the MAF is the bare minimum for an autofocus lens, especially if we are talking about an already "esoteric" lens. These are mortal sins. The lens however has painful angles, even closing it a lot are never sharp. On my specimen, sometimes the AF crashes and I have to insist a bit ' on the AF-on to get it back to work. It could, I repeat, be a problem due to the misuse of the previous owner, but so much so, I also have this problem. Adding everything, I must admit bitterly that I regretted having bought it, I do not sell it just because I refuse to pass this disgrace to another poor user, I'll keep it resigned to use it only on those rare occasions when I need a sharpness Central to the stars and I do not care about the corners, with little light and where I know I have time to make 10 attempts of the same photo. Until I have set aside the money to buy the Nikon 35 1.8, then it will become the most expensive paperweight I have at home. EDIT: Since I already had two optical ART that give me problems of MAF and that I will probably buy more, I decided to equip the USB dock. After calibring this lens, and using no more AF-S on single point but AF-C with 3d tracking, the focus has become much more predictable. A purchase, that of the dock, which I suggest to do to anyone who has Sigma compatible lenses, you will lose some time but definitely worth it. It remains, however, very soft at the corners, a bit ' at all apermi. I'm going to make a point. |
sent on July 19, 2018 Pros: Sharpness, bokeh Cons: Reliability, focus Opinion: Excellent lens no doubt it, but that suddenly during a wedding decide to abandon you is really sad, electronics went haywire and 268 euros repair on a lens that costs 700... I have not had any explanations, you do not understand what happened to this lens. In the past it happened to me sometimes that you break or you block a diaphragm, but this problem ever, dead lens and swearing at a wedding is not cute;) so I vote 7 |
sent on July 16, 2018 Pros: Sharpness, Bokeh, super Blur Cons: AF stroke a bit short, AF inconstant on my 5d III and slow in low light conditions. Opinion: Bought for my 5diii I immediately noticed an AF inconstant. I apply a 2-step in the car and snap some photos out in good light. The AF is its weak point. A friend of mine here on the forum helps me with his USB Dock to calibrate it at various distances (30cm, 60cm etc). I test the chart at 45 degrees using the double-cross center points of the 5d III. At 30-40cm it's OK at 70-80cm distance and on 10 pics 2 are great, 5 have front focus, 2 have front focus chunky and 1 ha Back focus. We had it calibrated the day before! It's unacceptable to me. I put it side by side with the 50/1.8 STM and this toy is more accurate in AF than the Sigma. Fire stroke too short making it difficult to forge precision by hand in LV. I'm returning it. Too bad because the blur is remarkable, the image quality as well and I had thought of the pairing 35/1.4 and 85/1.4 sigma But I'll lose Sigma. |
sent on July 11, 2018 Pros: Sharpness, robustness, manageability. Cons: Nothing. Opinion: I'm picky, but with this lens I can't expect more. Well built. It's hard to be able to exploit it well. It has tremendous potential. I joined it at 24 70 F4 L and 16 35 F4 L, Canon. They were a little resentful for my choice, but I had to have in outfit a decent fixed, a bright and nocturnal lens. I could mount it and not remove it from my 6d, but why give up the other two? |
sent on June 04, 2018 Pros: Construction, size compared to other Sigma, sharpness also at TA, image quality Cons: Sometimes you have to resort to live view Opinion: Excellent optics that in the past I could not use on 6d, with the 6d2 the problems related to AF have gone better, I calibrated in the car already in the store pointing to 1mt about, in the following days I made numerous shots at all openings and All perfect. Apart from the "question" AF of this optics you can only speak well. In the following days I noticed some problems at distances more than a few meters and I took the USB dock. After this fine calibration no more problems. I am very satisfied with this purchase and I would redo it despite still, under difficult circumstances to explain, an uncertainty in AF, suddenly many shots can come out of focus even closing at f 2.8 or more and the only remedy is shooting in Live view. With the 6d2 the thing is quite smooth and I'm getting used to, in LV never misses. |
sent on May 13, 2018 Pros: Image quality and constructive solidity Cons: Lack of tropicalization (who serves) Opinion: 35 mm are my favorite focal point and this is a lens that gives you detailed images at all apertures. With the arrival of the 2.0 firmware in the Canon House have been added very useful features such as the control of distortion, vignetting and chromatic aberration in the room, until now reserved only for the objectives of the parent company. I've been using it for a few years and I've never had any precision focusing problems before switching from a 5d MkII to a 5DSr. I had to buy the tap-in and adjust the autofocus in a very detailed and pain for almost two months before finding the calibration optics Bad. Now it's perfect again and at f/1.4 gives you remarkable pictures. As the focusing speed we are at a lower level than the object with the Canon USM engine, however acceptable. Vignetting is present only at large openings but often does not hurt, a matter of taste. I use it for 80% of my photos and I really struggle to staccarmene to use other lenses. For me it is a advisable and of considerable impact. |

sent on March 28, 2018 Pros: Sharpness, price, finish, aesthetics, flare resistance, Cons: Vignetting evident at TA. Opinion: Just received I made a hundred shots: indoor and outdoor. I must premise that I have used the 35mm Canon f 1.4 I (first series) for years. This is certainly better, sharper, even in the edges, excellent resistance to flare because it makes a beautiful star diaphragms closed with minimal artifacts or smudges. Fire always ok, some difficulties in manual with little light, but in autofocus it is not wrong one. So, lens that gives clear images and full of details, perhaps slightly chilly than the Canon. There are chromatic aberrations, but to see them you have to enlarge 200: 1. A strange episode: on the outside, in the middle of branches and trees, there were two small branches cut and paired and ... autofocus could not just bring them into focus. I thought it was around 7 pm, so little light, but it was enough to focus on a tree and everything worked perfectly. Mah .. for the rest I did rehearsals with the graph paper and the fire was very precise. I have a 5D III. The lens is beautiful, all black, longer than wide, heavy bllo, elegant with a wide rubberized focus ring that protects from scratches when you place the machine on a flat surface. Developed raw files with lightroom and I noticed that as exposure and tone I had to postproduce very little. Objective protection bag in the shape of a parallelepiped, a bit bulky and ugly. The two-tone leather bags by Canon are much cooler. For the rest, excellent goal. Very satisfied with the purchase. Oh I forgot: hood included with a precise bayonet joint. |

sent on March 26, 2018 Pros: Construction, resistance to flare, clear and ... magical and exciting Cons: The hair in the egg? The front cap, does not make me crazy, much better than the Nikons Opinion: I have owned it for a few months with Nikon FF. Spectacular lens, from construction to sharpness, I allowed shots that I did not imagine.rnScattare 1.4 is a pleasure with this lens, the subject, very clear, detaches a lot from the background that remains blurred in a magical way ... with the right lights and the right Wallpapers come out really exceptional photos. Enough heavy .. but I carry it very well without complaining about anything, even slightly cumbersome, especially with the hood ... but they are not fundamental aspects for me, also because it is less than 700 grams. No problem of f / b focus as far as I'm concerned.rnThe blurry makes the image very pleasant, in an atmosphere nothing short of fabulous and detailed even at full aperture, unique in its kind.rnCosto not high performance views.rnThis is a Art as a rule of art! |
sent on February 20, 2018 Pros: sharpness at all focal lengths, magical blur, better price than the competition. Cons: Honestly? nothing Opinion: I have always admired the images of this lens, very clear with a magical bokeh and in my opinion unmistakable. Probably it is the only objective that watching the immaginirnriesco recognize the bill. the only doubt about the purchase was his infamous front-back focus. I decided to buy it together with the sigma dock, it is also useful to update the lens, as well as a precise calibration. I open it and mount it on my eos 6D. Modern and elegant aesthetics, an important but not excessive weight, also very importable for street. Some shots on small objects, the battery test and some photos of my children. Yes, I confirm. What I hoped came true: the lens is perfect fire, sharpness and spectacular bokeh. Now I just have to enjoy it and start using it in everyday life. Maybe for the next outings street, postero'rnqualche shooting. Conclusions: only one: THANK YOU SIGMA !!! rn |
sent on February 17, 2018 Pros: resolution and construction Cons: non-existent chromatic fidelity Opinion: I go a bit 'countertrend, I sold. We know the merits and we have already sold them from the first moment, resolution to TA, blurred, construction, price. What we see with time is a difficulty in post-production in balancing the white and the shades. You always have some dominant that you can hardly fix unless you go heavy with the post (which I've never liked). some photos I turned into black and white because you simply could not balance them.rnanche the weight was a discriminant, on this type of focal better something lighter even if slightly darker |
sent on January 21, 2018 Pros: Construction - Sharpness - Colors - Af precise - contained aberrations Cons: Nobody I have not done any calibration because perfect with the D810 Opinion: Very satisfied and I must say that amazed me for the quality of the image, surely I will always carry it with me along with the 50 and 135 art.The cost is widely justified in relation to the performance. To have something like this or worse you have to spend a lot of more, I have not had any need to calibrate it because I'm perfect for 10 full |
sent on December 28, 2017 Pros: Optical yield, construction, price Cons: Closing cap. Need AF calibration with USB Dock. Opinion: I use it on D4 and two D 810: calibrated with the USB Dock on a D 810, correct the MaF on the other two bodies with the fine tuning of AF, the lens focuses on the 3 bodies even in low light and provides very good images. Vignette a little 'full aperture but it is normal on a F 1.4, is sharp at the center much to F 1.4, less at the edges, and is very clear on the entire frame closing a bit' the diaphragm. The color rendering is as neutral as the Zeiss, the anti-reflective treatment is good. Passable lens hood, ridiculous front cap, I substituted it with a Nikon cap. It is solid and built well, very good price / quality ratio. It took the USB Dock to do it focaccia well, it was calibrated, but once calibrated, it works well.rn |
sent on December 28, 2017 Pros: Construction, weight not excessive, sharpness at TA, colors, blurred, price Cons: Nothing to do with it Opinion: I use this lens for a while ', I made a sickness to have it, including photos and reviews seen on the forum I decided to buy it. Combined with a full size FF is certainly a winning combination, use it at the maximum aperture is almost a game, the baked files have beautiful colors and have a nice vignetting. I used it on 6D, 5D old and 5DIII and paradoxically the best results I got them on the old 5D tank. In my opinion the AF modules very pushed (5DIII) do not always have the best on those "prehistoric", to make an example with 5D old to TA on only 2 shots one was perfectly in focus while on MKIII accuracy is not so to good level, opinions and purely personal experiences. Finally I would recommend this lens to anyone who wants to try a super bright at a reasonable price. |
sent on November 06, 2017 Pros: clarity; practicality; cost, chromatic detail. Cons: Very little Opinion: bought to accommodate a 35-year-old reshaped at Nikon on occasions where autofocus is useful; has fully fulfilled its task; differently from other comments, no problem in the maf, it is specified both with D800 and D850; wide dynamic range and color rendering; I posted a test photo where you can test the result obtained, taken at less than two meters distance. In fact it has become one of the most used lenses. |
sent on November 06, 2017 Pros: Very little Cons: we are afraid in the interior of this distance 3 mt, f / b focus to be calibrated, af discontinuous sometimes hangs sometimes no Opinion: disappointed but much, purchased for church ceremonies to limit the flash, I realize that this lens mounted on d3 and d4 is really worth it, is lacking in clarity, although it has been calibrated to docking with the dock.rnda various tests done to the cavalletto, it emerges that the TA inside the lens works badly between 2.5 and 3 meters and farther away, it starts to think from f / 3.2 and f4, so I wonder if I buy a 1.4 lens and 'cause I want to use it at 1.4 or a little more, but if I have to get to f3.2 for an acceptable result, it's a big buffalo for me, aware that pdc a1.4 is minimal, at least in the fire point must be clear with a minimum of Crop , which weighs from 50 cm to about 2.5 mt does not go badly even at the outside, greetings |

sent on October 01, 2017 Pros: Sharpness, bokeh, construction, value for money, AF Cons: Tropicalization Opinion: Optical with a focal length that I would never detach from the car body because for my reportage style I would make 90% of the photos. This is what I have to say I found it very well constructed in the materials on the MAF ladder, caps and hoods. It also gives a good tactile feeling because it is compact and uncompromising. It has a really soft and pasty bokeh while still maintaining a great MAF. F / B absent on 6D, on 5D3 a little bit flawed in the car. Maybe a little bit lint on the MAF but it would be unwise to pretend to shoot at F1,4 in AI SERVO and claim the perfect fire. Come on !!! |
sent on September 24, 2017 Pros: Stunning sharpness, easy to use all-in-one Cons: Somewhat difficult focus with low light, hard / plasticous AF / MF switches Opinion: I came from Canon L first series and decided to change with this Sigma, which I already knew well, because I was dissatisfied with full-featured performance: even though I had calibrated my Canon MkI in CS and after having used it to rotate on three FF bodies Canon, I can say that I have never been able to use it with greater aperture than f / 2.0. The Sigma is amazing for ease of use and full-open sharpness: tested on two different bodies without any calibration, the MAF falls exactly where I want and the detail in the fire area is impressive. The difference with my (L) L series has suddenly appeared remarkable, even if you pay with the loss of the wow effect: Canon returns more picturesque and "round" images; there are those who define it as "vintage"; I leave the evaluations to the most competent even because there are a lot of discussions on the forum in the forum. Personally, I believe that the reason is the transition between a focal and blurred area: in Sigma & egrAve; very sharp, while in Canon is more gradual and pasty, which gives the images a greater roundness. Here you enter the subjective, personally Sigma I really like because I find that exalt the three-dimensionality (almost a pop-up effect), while many claim the opposite opposite. However, I still prefer Canon's rendering, imperfect as long as you want it, but absolutely "magic." Personal preferences and tastes, Sigma seems to be far better on all fronts: beautiful and well-built, also gives a very good bokeh, online with expectations for a lens of this type. It is cheaper than Canon and also more efficient, sharp and precise; only small neo: some hesitation in the MAF in low light, but it should be said that my reflexes (5D and 5D2) do not shine on this side. For the time being I have no tendency to front / back focus: it can happen, as I do with Canon, that more shots sequentially have a focus pointslightly different, but we are talking about a f / 1.4 full-frame freehand, the depth of field is so low that the minimum motion implies a shift of the MAF.rn the heavy chromatic aberrations of Canon have actually never bothered me any more so much so, it's easy to delete them with a click; to point out that with Sigma there is nothing to be eliminated, no trace of purple or blue edges even under the most unfavorable light conditions (branches against the sky) .nn I pronounce on the characteristics of the lens when using closed diaphragms: I do not care about it, otherwise I would not buy a superluminous. Of course, like flicking af / 1.4 with MAF on infinity-so, for the sake of trying to get clearer and more detailed images than Canon's 17-40 to f / 4. I do not know if I explain. Purchase highly recommended, if you like genre is a lens to have. But I prefer Canon. :-D |
sent on July 27, 2017 Pros: almost everything Cons: almost nothing Opinion: A gorgeous look, already holding her in her hand, she understands that it's quality. On d810 works fine, sharp and precise. Chromatic yield to the top. Sharpness at the top. Defective good. Maybe a manual maf is a bit hard. A 1.4 loses a bit on the edges but stuff from nothing ... Used for panoramas and at night gives great satisfaction. Price would say in line with the competition. Nikon is much dearer, of course, and I do not know how much better ... I did not have any calibration issues ... Highly recommended. |
sent on July 18, 2017 Pros: Sharpness to TA, blurred, colors Cons: Calibration really difficult Opinion: A superb optic, a jewel for chromatic rendering, bokeh and depth of contrasts. On FF a normal one that does not regret a 50mm. Taken by Italy, the second CPU change on the second day of use is calibrated to the Guerci (Ad Service) bench. Anyway, a so open calibration need with meticulous dock station to give the best. It's sweating but it's worth twice what it costs. |
sent on June 26, 2017 Pros: Very sharp already at TA, Value for money awful, blurry Cons: The only real need to compensate exposure (on my specimen) Opinion: Wonderful optics, bought 2 years ago: after reading the comments about the quality controls probably not excellent and the resulting front / back focus problems ... I had some pathetics. What to say .. they were lucky, my specimen is fantastic, for sharpness and colors: default is the optics that I generally leave on the body, also because I love the large apertures and the resulting bokeh. Rn The weight of the lens is not ridiculous but it's worth it, given the yield ... and yet the overall balance is perfect on the machine. RnrnThe only real problem encountered, at least on my specimen, is the constant overexposure when used in "P" mode: ... nothing dramatic, for charity, just fix the "downstream" problem with exposure compensation, but I understand that it may bother you: I think the problem arises from incorrect reading that the meter Of the car (Nikon) does on a third-party goal.. I'm confident I will recommend it ...: it will give you great satisfaction, with a performance almost from Zeiss (I say it reasonably well: I have the Planar 50 1.4 ...) at a much more honest price ... Really an opt for !! |
sent on March 25, 2017 Pros: Sharpness also central to TA, value for money, construction and outer beauty Cons: sketchy edges to at least 5.6 and not too lofty to 8. Opinion: I have for over a year I use this light on D800E. more than remarkable optics for environmental portrait and reportage in general, but in my opinion very poor for a landscaper because of the huge difference in the center-edge, at least in my copy. I say this because I remain convinced that there are differences between a non-trivial example, and another; one in my possession has a yield that seems not correspond at all to the test that you see around the web even by testers "serious." As a truly remarkable and surprising however its yield at the center as well at RT reason that convinces me to keep it and all in all, consider it a relatively good price point for a 1.4 optics. |

Reading the various comments from which he seemed to have to participate in "a lottery", I decided to buy it in a physical store paying him a little extra. Tested in a shop with the shopkeeper, several close-up and "infinite" shots with both center and side points, it turned out to be a need for a slight adjustment directly in the room (I think -2). That is what the goal is just perfect. The photos to be removed from af / 1.4 are statistically similar to the canon 50 f / 1.4, so I guess we often miss us and not so much the target. Just a couple of times he just crawled ... then no more.rnWelcome. RnPS: I firmly believe that 80% of those who complain about the b / f focus problems actually make mistakes at a stage, maybe because they re-compile slightly And disfigures the initially detected fire plan.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnI easily and often disagree with it later, noting in the two corners at the top right and lower in the sinsitra of the annoying shadows. user58495 | sent on November 12, 2016 Pros: Sharpness, bokeh, construction, colors Cons: Earlights and ear plugs are as short as few Opinion: I tried it thoroughly for a week and finally bought it. My hesitation about this optic, which I had already looked into, was the well-known front / back focus problem that afflicts a rather large number of specimens In my case, thankfully, the problem has not been highlighted, so I was able to concentrate on appreciating the superb quality of this lens. Compared to 35 1.4 Nikkor is a step below, especially to some openings, but the advantage is which costs less than half and the construction is really well groomed. Spell magic just can: very beautiful colors and exceptional bokeh, make it suitable to be always left on the body. I tried both on my D800 and on my Df and D4 : I have to say that while on the D800 it expresses its extraordinary sharpness, the Df and D4 pull out its "magic" side, making it a lovable and special purpose. Very well advised, but only if you are sure to have that do with a perfect specimen.rn VoIt's worth adding that many very negative reviews on this optic refer to the version for Canon which, famously, suffers from some incompatibility with the Sigma optics. I therefore urge you to check that the brand uses those who negatively re-evaluate this optic: it is often attributed to defects Linked to this acclaimed low liking Canon / Sigma.rnSu Nikon can encounter problems, but they are always resolved by calibration through dock station.rn |
sent on November 09, 2016 Pros: Sharpen, blur, build quality, AF fine adjustment with dock Cons: Missing tropicalization Opinion: I wanted to add to my fixed optics kit very bright and clear. I use it with a D750 and I'm excited about this lens. I did not make any adjustment, I bought the dock but I only used to update the firmware. Build quality is very good and the materials return impression of great solidity and precision. I took a 35 to have a versatile fixed and since I've got practically no longer used other lenses. Great for everything from photo portrait, landscape and street photography. Autofocus is fast and does not miss a beat, excellent color rendering, little distortion and vignetting not too pronounced removes easily PP, although often I leave because I find it enjoyable. The lens that I like most of my kit and without a doubt I'll consider the art of Sigma series if I have to buy another lens. If we add to that the cost is much lower than the corresponding Nikon, the choice becomes obbligated! |
sent on November 08, 2016 Pros: Performance over the average of the 35 of the same characteristics and to a much lower price. Built with excellent materials. Cons: Nobody Opinion: I use a Nikon D610 and offers fantastic photos. I consider a virtue the opportunity to be able to calibrate at home with dock and dedicated software; in this regard in the net there are many guides that explain step by step the various stages. At an affordable price add to your kit lens f / 1.4 sound and constructed with care. I took hundreds of photos at the maximum aperture and when it is set, it does not have a cannata! |
sent on October 16, 2016 Pros: Sharpness in the center, excellent construction, af fast. Cons: Unclear edges at wide apertures from f5.6. Sin. Opinion: very sharp in the center but only optical diaphragm f8 or more closed. It 'a shame that matched the excellent construction and solidity would have made it a unique lens. But probably has sigma not able to optimize the edges where the yield is disappointing. Unclear with tests carried out on flat subjects such as frescoes on the walls, decorated furniture and subjects placed on the same footing. The objects at the sides of the frame are blurry from f5.6 and higher openings. Probably market laws or inability of the sigma in lens design. The result is a lens only suitable for reportage, street, etc. Not suitable for architectural subjects and landscapes. Such a pity. I sold a few months later after having also tried another copy of the same, but a few years before. Really a great disappointment .... Ah Ah Sigma. |

I took the sigma and less than half the cost of the nikon there is no field in which sigma is less ... indeed. there are a lot of reviews about it, mine is more a reflection shared with you ... never used more than f / 4 and sharpness in the center is already very good at f / 1.4, only close to retrieve the edges and have a minimum pdc. |

The sharpness is excellent, even with the appropriate "crop" framing. Online weight and well balanced with a D750 and D4. Have an f / 1.4 in my optical park solves several problems related to Live. The construction is solid and with standard material higher than "normal" Sigma, I have never in my favorite park optics, this deserves! I just took the ART 20mm f / 1.4 and if it goes well like this the only zoom that will bring the irreplaceable Nikon 70-200 VRII. I use it to ambientati portraits and reportage. The only flaw is the weight, which together with my camera body, reaches 2kg. The construction is well made, solid. Opinion: A goal of high quality, bright, low-priced, resolving. The edges (on 42 megapixels) do not make the miracle shout at full aperture, but from f2 onwards are excellent. Contrast (not too much) low and high resolvency: what I personally prefer in the digital age. Focusing very fast and impeccable on my Sony A7RII + Metabones, I believe the high brightness. The longitudinal chromatic aberration, not resolvable in post-production, is present only at full aperture and only in the most contrasted scenes, but it is not anything exaggerated (not ignoble things like Canon 50 or 85 1.2). The absent coma makes it the ideal lens for astrophotography at this focal point, already from f2. |

Opinion: I waited for about 1 year before reviewing this perspective in order to get an idea as complete as possible. I bought the 35 art because I was close with 50 Sigma F1.4 (not art), which at the time was by far my favorite glass. The idea was to use it as a handyman for street and landscape. In these 12 months has the optics, which waited far longer attached to my camera, so I sold 50 because of its total inactivity, not because of the focal but for the clarity that if first I considered very good, was become totally unsatisfactory after getting used to the 35! The contrast between the crispness of focus parts and cremisità of blurry from a great personality to the images; I really like the colors, saturated but realistic. A ta sticker enough but in a really nice ... well, I'm excited. We now come to hand, starting from the most obvious ones: such optical quality, involves a weight and a decidedly important footprint. Excellent optical performance (sharpness of fear throughout the frame already 'F1.4, fuzzy creamy and smooth, good resistance to flare and definitely comparable if not better than other optical emblazoned, no color fringe to more openings' wide) and mechanical construction impeccable. Opinion: Stratospheric lens, nothing to do with the "old sigma." It has an impressive sharpness and fuzzy in my opinion really incisivo.rnLa build quality is top notch and it looks like a rock. It looks very similar to Zeiss as a finish. The focus ring is smooth optimally. sent on July 05, 2014 Pros: the same people who all know each other Cons: transition from fire to fire off unpleasant Opinion: for now I think it is absolutely the best 35 tried, I did not find faults, so now need to resolve the question of personal taste. Nikon has no comparisons. Canon is a great lens for photo techniques (who does photo techniques with 35?), But for the story I find it too dry. the delicate transition from fire to fire out is bad, thing instead of the 35L is very nice. The test for an objective reportage not you do it at the edges or at 100%. The three-dimensionality is good if the light and fire are favorable, it is always good or outstanding with the 35L instead. So the owners of Canon recommend a used 35L which costs about the same. |

Opinion: I own this objective by little, I replaced it with the Sigma 50mm f / 1.4 EX DG HSM, compared to quest'ulitmo known sharpness embarrassing to TA which increases strikingly after the 2.8. I use it on 5DIII, the couple seems to me fantastic. I also like some other reviewer I bought the lens together with the dock station, for fear of finding myself a copy problems with front / back focus. There was no need having to calibrate the lens, my copy was already perfectly centered, but I took the opportunity to update the Firmware. For people like me, who does not live close to a service center is a manna.La build quality compared to 50mm above (I want to clarify) is abysmal. It really seems to have in your hands one Zeiss, you have to have a lot of forethought to not leave marks on the parts liscie.rnIl change of direction on the build quality is tangible only to watch it, but I'm referring to those of the new generation ART. RNA essessivo my opinion the weight is compared to the 35 mm L canon 5D III but mounted on the balancetion seems to me to be almost perfect: Turn coupled with the 5DII / 34 ART is very tiring for the street.rnQualità optics in my opinion amazing. I repeat that a TA is not needed any micro adjustment, file produces razor sharp even in low light. rnIl Bokeh is creamy and nice, the color rendition is excellent. Auto Focus is accurate with both the central and the lateral extremes but not velocissomo such as Canon, however, does not miss a beat. RNE 'a lens to have. I recommend it to everyone, especially to those skeptics like me (believe you want to buy only lenses no plus ultra of mom canon). Taking two annetti about, but it is the last time that I wanted to raise the level from casual pastime to passion which devote body and soul. Using a Canon EOS 1100D and I bought this light mainly for use in street photography. Since the machine an APS-C actually get something close to a 50mm, but who knows, one day I will make the switch to FF (6D?) And I can enjoy even more of this lens in its focal ideale.rnrnDi this lens hits immediately the care given to the design and construction of the same, a product of the highest order that has little to do with the cheaper Sigma lenses of past years. On the technical side there really is not much to say, MAF very good even without USB dock for calibration, incredible sharpness even at room temperature and exceptional brightness thanks to the diaphragm from 1.4: the lens is great to use during the day, but from dusk onwards that gave me the soddisfazionmaggiori.rnLe the only flaws, if we may so call them, of this lens is the size and weight (nothing amazing, for charity, but out of a car as light as the 1100D you feel the difference compared to, say, the 18 - 55 with which it is sold). Another detail that causes me some discomfort is the cap, which in my opinion is just as immediate hit when it is placed on the lens, especially if there is also hooked paraluce.rnrnAd every way a truly outstanding lens, which is worth an instant buy if right below the 700 euro.rnrn |

Without the slightest (micro) adjustment, sharpness at f/1.4 is disarming. Accustomed always to close to 1-2 stop with optical light to have a little 'of sharpness, this lens you can photograph fixed at f/1.4. Purple Fringing and chromatic aberrations very low and only slightly perceptible with brightly lit areas (easily corrected in post) ... I always speak f/1.4 now assume that as the working aperture (much better performance compared to the Canon 35mm L). Bokeh creamy and pleasant to look at. Color rendition is absolutely ottima.rnrnAltro point that worried me: Auto Focus. I've done tests on lighting conditions are not ideal, with both the central and the lateral extremes. Do not miss a shot. You just have to have the foresight to be in the millimetric displacements, because if you use aperture open so it is easy to end up out of focus ... not the fault of the lens, but only because there was decentralized from the anchor point AF. Also the speed seems more che good. But more than speed, I think the accuracy of the AF looks decidedly more importante.rnrnPer conclude the USB dock (optional). I bought it out of curiosity and I find it very useful. No more Room Service ... Update the firmware and calibrated your Sigma lenses (only the new generation, namely: ART, CONTEMPORARY SPORT) from the comfort of home and with a few clicks of the mouse. Even the Software (Sigma Optimization Pro - SOP) is well made and easy to manage. For those who have no service centers in their city an advantage of no small importance. No more worries of mind to send their cameras and optics. Not to mention that for a calibration are asked quietly € 30 and più.rnrnIn Ultimately, I never thought such a positive review of a Sigma lens, but I am happy to do it because I'm not a fan boy and I have no difficulty in recognizing the merits of a company when it works well. All that remains is to test the long-term reliability. Meanwhile Sigma gives us full three years (MTrading) to be safe ... the rest is vedrà.rnrnNegli the last few years I have had the good fortune to buy a variety of cameras and lenses change many (also fine) and this Sigma 35mm ART is without a shadow of doubt the lens that amazed me the most, right now. When mounted it soon becomes clear that you have in your hands an object "important." Portraits with blurred background very nice landscapes with very vivid colors and above all allows you to make beautiful pictures even indoors freehand without the need for flash and without having to go overboard with the ISO. The lack of tropicalization not a problem if you feel like it should not be used in very extreme conditions and given the price of its respective opponents would say that is a lens highly recommended. Cons: The AF, albeit rarely, I have created problems in non-optimal lighting situations, handing photos without a sharp point. I happened to notice a slight color fringing in extreme situations, however, you have to just go and look. In high-contrast lighting situations (especially in backlighting) tend to digest very bad dense textures (such as branches and leaves of the trees) and create bad artifacts. Opinion: I made the bet trying this new Sigma instead of throwing myself on the Series L and are partially satisfied. The sharpness is very good at f1.4 (considering opening), it is from f2.8 (eye) maybe in a bit more engraved 24-70 and 20-200 VRII. Opinion: Opinion after use of 7D.rnUn incredible lens that I recommend highly. A masterpiece of computer engineering. A f/1.4 sharpness, contrast and chromatic aberrations are already record-breaking. The photos un'ariosità rare for un'APS-C. The AF is good and is in line with the Canon 85 f/1.8 to be precise, it is usable without problems in AI-Servo. With good light is very accurate and reliable, and in harsh conditions hooks always right away, but sometimes the photos are soft (I think it also depends on the body). The bokeh is nice, in very special conditions may become slightly nervous, but so is physical reasons, not because of a defect in the lens. The price, especially when compared to the competition, it's great. Seeing so many examples over the last few months, I got the idea that the only advantage of 35 compared to Canon Sigma is the best after sales service, but if you are not professional it is unlikely that this is enough to justify a price almost doubleor.
