Pentax SMC D-FA 100mm f/2.8 Macro WR Pros: returns very detailed images, bright, compact, pentax colors Cons: autofocus without limiter Opinion: It took me a while to appreciate this goal, at first I considered it unusable with autofocus; in fact, it was very difficult to focus even outdoors in the sunlight. The Reflex moped kept going back and forth seamlessly. Then there was the turn with the most appropriate setting of the maf on the k1 (in afc spot mode on the center points), at which point the blender is still there but much less. The optical quality is exceptional as well as the weatherproof construction, in conclusion if it had the internal ultrasonic engine and the limiter as its counterpart Tamron 90mm macro 2.8 would be much more usable , to resume insects for example. We hope that Pentax will update this goal, which in many ways is a jewel of optics and makes it adapted to the times and the competition. sent on October 01, 2019 |
Pentax-D FA* HD 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW Pros: general quality, very responsive and accurate autofocus, defect-free images of sorts already at full opening Cons: don't have it on the k1 Opinion: Pentax, with the latest goals, has accustomed us to dealing with volumes and important weights. This 50 DFA star f 1.4 that has more or less the size and weight of the HD DFA 24-70 f 2.8 is no exception. Nothing to do with the old limited, which by comparison look like Lilliputians. Actually what convinced me to buy was just the comparative test that cameraville did on youtube, between this 50mm and the 43 f 1.9 limited, this is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00P4VkuST2k I made about 60 shots and all to f 1.4 and I have to say that the yield is exceptional and the autofocus is just as fantastic, I do not know the performance of the other brands but I think they are not better than the k1 with this goal, perhaps thanks to the great brightness. Very interesting is also the fact that when used on the k70 it becomes a 75 f 1.4, the non plus ultra of portraiture. The thing I like most about Pentax is that it goes its own way, offering the best it can without chasing the competition and without producing unnecessary things, the only thing that cares is the quality of the products it puts on the market and those who choose it know and appreciate it. P.s.: the purchase figure here on Juza is excessive, I bought it at much less with Fowa warranty, search on the internet. Next day's update: I took 480 shots in a single evening between 9.30pm and 11.30pm with almost only the light of the illuminated fountains, the only 2 blurred photos are due to the fact that for a moment I tried, wrongly, manual focus. Peace and love. sent on September 20, 2019 |
Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD Pros: Bright, sharp at full aperture, well built, autofocus, price Cons: It's not WR Opinion: I Think it's the only 70-200 F2,8 non-Pentax compatible with the K1. It is an old model, superseded by the new stabilized and motorized version, but it is only built for Nikon and Canon and at twice the price. In spite of someone's opinion, the autofocus is very good even if it does not have the ultrasonic system, it hooks the subjects even with very poor light and it does it quickly without uncertainties, both with the K70 and the K1. The Construction is unexceptionable, the whole is made of metal and hard plastics and I must say that it is not a big problem the size and weight, after you got used to it. So far I have done only a few test shots but I have to say that the results are beyond my most rosy expectation, especially at f 2.8 and at 200mm, I have to say thanks especially to the stabilised sensors of the Pentax that have allowed me to shoot below the 1/60 second to Free hand. I bought it from Amazon, not so much for the convenience, but because it starts to be unavailable from other retailers, so my advice is to buy it without hesitation if you find it. sent on April 19, 2019 |
Tamron SP 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD Pros: Luminous: F 2.8 at all focal lengths, sharp, light and economical Cons: It's not WR Opinion: I bought it to use it with the Pentax K70 instead of the 18-135 of the kit because of the greater brightness, I do not regret it despite the less focal excursion. It Loses a bit of sharpness only at full aperture but not so much, it is a light, cheap and bright handyman suitable also for portraits. The Focus, despite being controlled by the reflex is fast and precise even with low light. The construction is not metal but I do not think it is a flaw, it gains the weight, pity that it is not WR, I would have spared the purchase of the Pentax 18-135 made later. sent on April 05, 2019 |
Pentax SMC DA 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 ED Fisheye Pros: Very small size and therefore light, has the versatility of the zoom, minimum focus distance of 14cm Cons: It's not WR, I'd be comfortable for the FF but it's not compatible Opinion: This was the first lens I purchased when I switched to digital SLR, I was always intrigued by the fish eye vision of the world at full frame and with this lens I had a lot of fun. It Has the versatility of the zoom and being small and light you carry it around willingly as a second lens or on a second camera body. At 17mm The distortions are easily corrected, as has already been said, and the backlights do not generate devastating reflexes, indeed they are very contained. The colors are saturated and bright as in the Pentax tradition. With the horizon at the center of the lens there is no distortion, but then why buy a fish eye? sent on April 03, 2019 |
Irix 11mm f/4.0 Pros: well built, sharp enough even at f4 Cons: size and weight Opinion: I have the firefly version in plastic, but it is not as poor as you might think, indeed the lens looks very solid and anything but light. Paired with the K1 they make a nice weight to wag around, I would have preferred one less diaphragm but a handling similar to the Voigtlander 10mm f/5.6 for example. The filters, as has already been said, fit from behind and are only available ND (3X3 cm, at a paltry cost), inserting filters is easy and intuitive while to remove them you need to use another filter to pry. I consider this Irix a very good and fun goal; it makes a lot of stuff in the frame and it gets more and more appreciated every time I use it, I'd buy it back. sent on January 05, 2019 |
Pentax A SMC 35mm f/2.8 Pros: compactness, solid construction, sharpness even at f/2.8 Cons: Not having it Opinion: Until recently I had 4 35mm lenses at home; A Minolta, a Leica Elmarit-R, a summaron and this Pentax-a, all f/2.8 and since it is a fixed focal that I no longer use since the time of analogue I decided to unmake it, not before having done a little test. Excluding the Minolta that I never considered, I decided to test on tripod and with the same subject, the behavior of the other 3 lenses at full aperture. All on the same camera, the Sony A7 with its adapter rings. I will say immediately that the Summaron beat everyone for sharpness at the edges while the Elmarit (made in Germany, not in Canada) gave embarrassing results with edges evidently not up to the older brother. The surprise came from this small (as size) undervalued and depreciated Pentax: just below the summaron and much higher than the Elmarit. Result: The Summaron and the Elmarit were sold with much profit by exploiting their name (the Minolta had gone already earlier) while this Pentax will still have some glory attached a bit more often to Sony especially when I'll need to Travel light without sacrificing quality. sent on January 04, 2019 |
Pentax M SMC 28mm f/2.8 Pros: Impeccable and solid construction, compact size, very sharp Cons: Not having it Opinion: I bought this wide angle in the Eighties when I used the glorious Pentax LX and I remember that I paid it, new, around 300,000 lire (a lot at the time), a few days ago I decided to sell it for issues of overabundance of lenses, but when I saw the quotation On ebay I changed my mind. This is not a bottle bottom, is a lady lens, you can not sell it for a few dozen euros so I decided to keep it and exploit it with the Sony A7: The focus, thanks to the electronic viewfinder, is precise to the millimeter, the lens is sharp almost at every opening and L In its reduced size marries perfectly the compactness of the A7 and in pairs are ideal for traveling light or for street photography. Amen. sent on January 03, 2019 |
Canon FD 20mm f/2.8 Pros: Sharp if you are starting at F5, the robust and compact Cons: I don't like the lock/open ring nut that I often forget open Opinion: Wide angle ideal for my Sony A7, built in the seventies in glass and metal but still fairly light, almost comparable as a building quality to the 20mm of Pentax (which however is more compact). The first useful diaphragm is F5, 6, needless to open more: the edges would be unwatchable. It is the only Canon lens that I possess and I find it unpleasant the lock/open ring that acts as a pre-selection of the diaphragm, on Sony is useless and annoying, apart from this this lens is irreplaceable when I travel and I want to remain light, the quality I consider very Good in relation to the focal and low cost with which it is on ebay. sent on December 29, 2018 |
Pentax HD FA 15-30mm f/2.8 ED SDM WR Pros: Fast and precise focusing, ideal focal range for landscapes, building quality and color rendition at the top Cons: Size and weight, high price and some unwanted reflections against sun Opinion: When you get used to the size and weight becomes impossible to remove it from K1, this objective is ideal for the Landscsta who with a lens has at least 5 of the most used in this genre: 15, 18, 20, 24, 30 and all at f/2.8. Certainly not an economic lens but the yield with the K1 is exceptional, the JPG that the machine with this lens are able to return have miraculous, both as a color and as a recovery of shadows in the case of underexposed frames. Another gem is the minimum focusing distance at 20 cm and the 9-blade aperture that contributes little to make this jewel a must for the Pentaxiani provided with K1. sent on December 17, 2018 |
Pentax K-1 Pros: has everything I need Cons: The weight Opinion: Photographing by candlelight at night and being able to not throw away even a shot: this is the K1. I bought the silver version with the battery grip taking advantage of a promotion and after a hundred shots I'm still wondering what its limit. The focus that should be a sore note on 100 shots has mistaken 2 or 3, the sensor is a monster of definition, the shooting options are redundant and the physical controls are so many that in combination with customizable keys you do not have almost need To access the menu. Aesthetically the K1 with hooked the battery grip looks like an indestructible Carrarmatino, quite heavy but well balanced when used with two hands, the level of construction is very high and, at least apparently, destined to last for a long time. I'm not going to list the features and functions that are arcinote, the impression on the skin is to have in hand the heir of the analogue LX that worked with the films but it was a concentrate of technology, at the forefront of the times. Good Pentax, also to have retained the compatibility of any lens with PK mount (including the APSC) from the 1970s onwards. sent on May 12, 2018 |
Pentax DA HD 55-300mm f/4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR Pros: speed of focus, sharpness, water resistance, price Cons: low brightness Opinion: It is a zoom that uses the internal focusing engine (impulse PLM) and is WR (water resistant), so it is ideal for outdoor shooting even for avifauna as the focusing speed is remarkable and has nothing what about the previous model that was controlled by the engine of the reflex. It is very sharp even at full opening and is therefore also suitable for portrait painters, blurry is very beautiful. So I would say that it can be considered a cheap handset but not too bad. Pentax often points to points in their favor but they go silently because the brand is a bit snore (wrong) by most photographers. On the other hand, it is to be said that those who use branded material Pentax knows very well that it has something that is worth much more than its price. Amen. sent on October 22, 2017 |
Pentax K-70 Pros: High sensitivity, Macro zoom lens, swiveling live view, wide selection of shooting modes, 100% viewfinder cover, compact size and last but not least the ability to use the goals I've purchased in the 80's, including The bellows. Cons: For now nothing Opinion: I claim my more than a review is a love affirmation for this car. I possess it recently, but I am already excited, I confess that I still do not know all the possibilities it offers but already so is satisfying me in full. After years of color slides and b / n films with its acids and developments (I own 2 Pentax LX with interchangeable viewfinder) I decided to take the digital path and consider myself a neophyte who has everything to learn. Two things have pushed me to write this review, the first is love for Pentax, the second is that I'm comparing with a friend who has a Nikon d7200 and would not go back to my choice: the only way to have the live Orientable view is a noteworthy advantage, not to mention the commands all in the right place (is ergonomic?) Great Pentax. sent on April 29, 2017 |
