Il villaggio di Benzhai, ai piedi del monte Yunjiu, è stato fondato da una guarnigione militare di soldati della dinastia Ming inviati a guardia della frontiera sud-occidentale. Benzhai da 600 anni è li con le sue case tradizionali a corte costruite interamente in pietra, dalle fondamenta alle pareti e ai tetti. Non ho incontrato nessuno: i suoi vecchi vicoli stretti, i muri alti e gli architravi in ??legno intagliato sembravano appartenere a una città fantasma.
