LA STORIA
L'attività nasce come locanda nel 1922, diventando famosa per il suo ottimo minestrone, che diede il soprannome al fondatore (ERNESTO PIGA). Frequentato per lo più da commercianti che raggiungevano Cagliari da Capoterra e Pula ma anche dai cagliaritani che trascorrevano le vacanze estive nell'allora conosciuta spiaggia di Giorgino, meta non solo della classe operaia ma anche della Cagliari bene, che raggiungevano le loro ville lungo il litorale. Alla fine degli anni 50 vista la non più tenera età, Ernesto e sua moglie Teresa, decidono di abbandonare l'attività di ristorazione per passare a quella meno impegnativa di rivendita di alimentari. Ernesto (ormai noto come "MINESTRONE") e Teresa, anziani, decidono di comune accordo con le loro tre figlie Raffaela (Lina), Francesca e Gesuina(Gina), di lasciare tutto in mano alla nipote Antonella e al marito Vincenzo, i quali portano avanti l'attività di generi alimentari, fino alla fine degli anni 90. A metà degli anni 70 già si pensava di tornare alla precedente attività ma le autorità competenti negarono le autorizzazioni necessarie a causa della realizzazione del nuovo porto industriale di Cagliari, che bloccava qualsiasi tipo di lavoro in quell'area. All'inizio degli anni 90 l'idea del ristorante riaffiora nella mente dei coniugi Belgiorno ma purtroppo anche questa volta i sogni si infrangono a causa della dipartita di papà Vincenzo. Così si è atteso fino al 1998 quando Antonella, grazie all'aiuto dei suoi tre figli Stella Massimo e Giuseppe, e dei risparmi di tutta una vita dedicata al lavoro, danno inizio ai lavori di restauro. Il ristorante apre al pubblico alla fine dell'anno 2000. La famiglia Belgiorno dedica il ristorante "LO ZENIT" al bisnonno Ernesto, dal quale ha ereditato il soprannome MINESTRONE ed al papà Vincenzo che purtroppo non lo ha conosciuto, ma che comunque ne è l'artefice materiale e spirituale.
